From Side-Lights on Maryland History with Sketches of Early Maryland Families by Hester Dorsey Richard, Baltimore, Maryland, 1918, vol. 2, pp. 418-420:

"Christopher Randall, second, one of the Colonial Justices of the Baltimore County Court, was exercising the functions of his important and dignified office as early as the year 1723, according to the court records of that county (see Liber 1723-24, pp. 207, 308, 437).

"That he faithfully performed his duty in the administration of justice is evident, as he was continued in offic by Governor Charles Calvert, through whose favor he was appointed. For proof of this the following record is taken from page 2, manuscript, 'Commission Book,' at the Maryland Historical Society.

"'March 3, 1726, By order from his honor the Governor, commission was issued to Christopher Randall as one of the Commissioners of the Peace for Baltimore County.'

"Christopher Randall, second, inherited Randall's Fancy from his father, and in addition acquired large tracts for himself. Of these Good Fellowship is of special interest, as this original grant from Charles, fifth Lord Baltimore, has descended for nearly two hundred years ancestrally to Honiorable Henry Gassaway Davis, its present owner. The following are full abstracts of the records of survey and patent:

General Notes: Husband - Hans Pedersen Hollet

From a letter by Donald Johnson (son of Marine Johnson) to Ardis Johnson Bynum on 5 June 1979:

"My great grandfather, Hans Pedersen Hollet, apparently was, for those times, a well-to-do man on the island of Laeso. He was 32 years older than my great grandmother Mette Kirstine Christensdatter, who was born about 1792. So my guess is that when Mette Kirstine died, her daughter's (Ane Cathrine) share of the estate was enough to enable her to buy the holdings at Hov. In 1866 Mette K. would have been 74 years old, and it may have taken a year or more to settle the estate, as there were five children born of this marriage. This is just a guess, but it does make sense that grandpa Jens Christian Jensen didn't get rich farming and fishing; or, at least, as readily as the Hollets could with their milling and timbering business."

The part of Prince Georges County in which he was born became Frederick County in 1749 and is now Montgomery County, Maryland. An equal number of sources say Prince Georges County.

Another says born in Conococheague Manor, Washington Co., Maryland, but that may not be so (http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:1817077&id=I736).

Research Notes: Husband - Captain Thomas Clagett, Jr.

From http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3143362&id=I631846417 :

Thomas received from his parents in 1702, "Weston", near Upper Marlborough, which was entailed upon him and his heirs "forever." He lived at Weston where he is said to have built a handsome home, surrounding it with a park in the English style. This house was destroyed by fire after the Revolution.

Thomas owned "Huntington" at Rock Creek; "Clagett's Purchase" (750 acres) in Montgomery Co., near what is now Bethesda; 300 acres near Beaver Dam, Prince George's Co.; and "Strife."

Thomas Clagett is mentioned as a justice of the peace for Prince George's County in 1712 and a Commissioner in 1707; a member of the House of Burgesses; and in 1703 Justice of Orphans Court."
"Across the Years in Prince George's County" pg. 121

There is question as to whether "Weston" was in Prince George's or Calvert County, but county lines changed over the years and where it is now, may not be where it was then.

Research Notes: Wife - Mary Keene

From http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3143362&id=I631846418 :
There is debate as to whether Mary is the daughter of Richard or Henry Keene. Richard's will clearly states that he leaves items to his niece, Mary, daughter of his deceased brother Henry and does not mention a daughter Mary.

Research Notes: Husband - Captain Thomas Clagett

From http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:3143362&id=I631846437 :

Thomas Claggett, a captain in the navy of Charles II, inherited landed estates in England but in the fall of 1670 he resigned his commission, left his inheritance and immigrated to American. He arrived early in 1671 and settled on St. Leonard's Creek, near St. Leonard's Town, in Calvert County, MD. After coming to America he changed the spelling of his name to Clagett, and it has been generally so spelled by his descendants ever since, except for those in the line of Bishop Thomas John Claggett, great grandson of Captain Thomas Clagett through his son Richard, and Richard's son, Rev. Samuel Clagett.

He was apparently possessed of considerable means as he at once purchased and received by royal grant a number of large tracts of land...p. 119, Effie Gwynn Bowie, Across the Years in Prince George's Co.

Edward served as Justice of the Peace, Judge of the County Court, and was the first Vestryman of Christ Church Parish. He was Commissioner of Calvert County in 1680; Coroner and Captian of the Calvert County Militia in 1683.

The estates owned were Godlington Manor (1000 acres) on the Eastern shore (MD); Weston (800 acres) near Upper Marlboro, MD; Greenland in Prince Georges County and large tracts near St. Leonard Township.
