From http://www.pa-roots.org/data/read.php?1108,410563,410563 (by Carol Eddleman) :
Captain Richard Warfield emigrated from Berkshire, England, and settled, in 1662, west of Crownsville, Anne Arundel County, Maryland. His estate reached back to 'Round Bay on the Severn'. The Rent Rolls show that he held during his life, 'Wayfield,' 'Warfield's Right,' 'Hope,' 'Increase,' 'Warfield's Plains,' 'Warfield's Forest,' 'Warfield's Addition,' 'Brandy,' and 'Warfield's Range.' In 1689, then a captain, Richard Warfield signed as a military officer the address to King William. Mr. Warfield was returned as first vestryman of St. Ann's (also spelled St. Anne) Church, Annapolis, in 1696. He began the first westward movement of the early settlements to the unexplored frontier of Howard County, in his old age. He was born in 1640 and died in 1703-4, leaving an intelligent will, which named his seven children as heirs. He married, in 1670, Elinor Browne, heiress and daughter of Captain John Browne, of London, England, a direct descendant of Sir John Browne. Upon an original will at Annapolis is the stamp of the stork. Burke says their crest is a stork. Burke traces the Le Brune name, which is fiftieth on the Battle Abbey Roll, to Sir Stephen, oldest son of Hugh, one of the Lords of Wales. His wife, Eva, sister of Griffith, Prince of Wales. His descendants were Sir John, of Essex, and Thomas Browne, of London, from whom decended Thomas Browne, heir, and Captain John Browne, second son, of London. Elinor (Browne) Warfield inherited from her father Captain John Browne, 'Hope,' and 'Increase.''

From http://www.pa-roots.org/data/read.php?1108,410563,410563 (by Carol Eddleman) :

Alexander Warfield, third son of Captain Richard Warfield, was a surveyor, and on the committee of extending Annapolis. He was born in 1677 and died in 1740; married Sarah Pierpont, daughter of Francis and Elizabeth Pierpont, who held an estate upon South River. Alexander Warfield was one of the executors of his brothers-in-law, Captain John Howard and Amos Pierpont, sole heir of the latter. Alexander Warfield's children were all baptized at 'All Hallows.' His three daughters, Rachel, Elizabeth, and Catherine, inherited slaves and money, while four plantations were divided among the four sons; Samuel received 'Benjamin's Discovery' and 'Warfield's Addition,' while 'Venison Park' of 1300 acres was given to Alexander and Absolute. The homestead 'Brandy' was left to his youngest son, Richard.

Richard Warfield married Sarah Gaither, daughter of John and Agnes (Rogers) Gaither, of 'Bite the Biter.' Agnes was the daughter of Captain John Rogers of Prince George County.

From Wikipedia - Épernon :

Épernon is a commune in the Eure-et-Loir department and Centre region of France . It lies some 27 km northeast of Chartres , at the confluence of the Drouette and the Guesle .

History
Épernon was originally the home of the counts of Montfort and Amaury . In the 11th century, they raised the fortresses of Épernon and Montfort for the protection of the Château de St Léger and granted a charter to the town. Four doors gave access to the medieval city: the door of Chartres, the door of Geolle, the door of Paris and the door of Beauce . Above the doors an inscription paid homage to the village that previously existed there: Autrist fut jadis mon nom/A présent on me nomme Espierremont (Autrist was once my name/now my name is Espierremont). Charters of the 12th and 13th century variously refer to the town as Sparno and Sparnonum, but by the 14th century it had evolved to Esparnon and Espernon, very close to its present appellation.

In the 13th century it became an independent lordship, which remained attached to the crown of Navarre till, in the 16th century, it was sold by Henry III of France to Jean Louis de Nogaret de La Valette , for whom it was raised to the rank of a duchy in 1581. De Nogaret's second son, Bernard (1592-1661), succeeded his father to the dukedom and after his death, the title was borne by the families of Goth and of Pardaillan .
