Funeral services for the late Henry Larter (Harry) Aitchison, who died in Groves Memorial Community Hospital on Wednesday, March 22nd, 1967, following an illness of some weeks, were held from the Towriss Funeral Home on Saturday. Mr. Aitchison, who belonged to one of the early families of the district, was born on December 9th, 1879, and was in his 89th year. He was a son of the late Andrew Aitchison and the former Mary Larter and was born in Minto Township but had resided for the greater part of his life in Nichol Township near Elora, and for many years on the Elora-Salem Road. He had spent some years in the employment of J.C Mundell Company here, following his retirement from the farm. Mr. Aitchison was married to Miss Ann Jack, who predeceased him and is survived by one son, Jack, of Lot 18, and two brothers, James and William Aitchison, both of British Columbia. Two brothers and two sisters predeceased him. The Reverend T.J. Rees of the Elora United Church of which Mr. Aitchison was a member, conducted the service at the Funeral Home and the Elora Cemetery and the pallbearers were Messrs. David Cawthra, Gordon Bowman, William Bittorf, George Benham, Leslie (Dick) Oakes and Harold Weadick. [Elora Express, March 30, 1967]
