"Elizabeth Wailes Wallace Elizabeth Wailes Wallace, born June 27, 1925 and passed January 23, 2013. Six-time LBUSD school board president, co-founder of Long Beach Interracial Committee, Junior League past president, Rick Racker Woman of the Year, Poly High Distinguished Graduate, golf champ and much more. Moved to Long Beach from Memphis as a baby, attended local schools and graduated from Smith College. She earned her M.A. at Claremont. Preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald C. Wallace, Jr. and daughter, Anne Wallace McAndrews, both of whom died in 2008. Wallace is survived by three children, Alex Wallace, Don Wallace III (Mindy Pennybacker) and Nancy Lungren (Brian); sister, Millicent Rhoades; brother, David Wailes; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer and David Hedley, Ashley and Sean Wallace, Alanna, Brian Jr. and Patrick Lungren, and Rory Wallace; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. on February 2nd at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 525 E. Seventh St. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Long Beach Day Nursery, Long Beach Museum of Art or any favorite charity. The family would like to thank Janey Roeder, Joni W. Swanson, caregivers Elizabeth and Maritza, Broadway by the Sea, Ursula." 3
