Christina ("Stina") Johnson
From letter by Donald Johnson (son of Marine Jensen) 6/5/1979: "One thing about grandma Johnson [Ane Cathrine Hansdatter] has always intrigued me. Her life-long retainer that she brought from Denmark with the rest of her family. Stina (Christina) Johnson, the name she used, was born on Laeso, July 17, 1856, according to cousin Mabel. Grandma Johnson's obituary clipped from the Wauneta Breeze by the Luck Enterprise, says that there were 12 children 'born to this union.' 'Ten of which survive her.' All ten are listed and we can account for them. Uncle John was killed while working as a gas-lamp lighter in the Kankakee [Illinois] insane asylum. Nobody ever seemed to know whether Stina was a daughter, niece, or just a family friend. Was she the 12th child, or was that an error in the obituary?"
