"...William de Stanley, lord of Stanley and Storeton, in right of his wife Johanna, eldest daughter and coheiress of Philip de Bannvile, lord of Storeton, in Wirehall in Cheshire, by which he was also forrester of the forest of Wirehall in the said county, ann. 1317. John, his eldest son, succeeded in the lordship of Stanley and Storeton, &c."

From The History of the House of Stanley from the Conquest to the Death of the Right Honourable Edward, Late Earl of Derby, in 1776 :

"JOAN, eldest daughter and one of the heirs of Sir Ph. Bamville, Knight, Lord of Stourton."

~A Genalogy of the Southworths (Southards), by Samuel G. Webber (1905) [GC 929.2 So 8766w] (p. 433) She learned that her parents were determined that she should marry contrary to her inclination. While her father was at a festive banquet given him by some friends, she stole away, met William de Stanley; they rode across country to Astbey Church, where they were married in the presence of two friends. 157

~Ormerod's History of Cheshire, Stanley of Hooton Pedigree, p. 415, Joan, eldest daughter and coheir of Sir Philip de Bamville of Storeton, knight, hereditary cheif and forester of Wirral, she married at Astbury, 27 Sep 1282 and was a widown by 19-20 Edward II 713

~The History of the House of Stanley, p. 13, also names William's wife as Joanna or Jane, the eldest daughter of one of the coheris of Thomas Banville. It also says that they had two sons, William and John. 866
