Famiytreemaker.genealogy.com has seemingly more complete info on whole family. b.1034 (other sources have 1042 or abt 1050), father "most likely William Talvas of Belleme, born 995." Per Wyatt Massey (11/20/1999), William de La Ferte was from the Bellamy (Belleme) family.
Fought in Battle of Hastings with wife's half broither, William the conqueror, his brothers-in-law, and his sons. Some sources list his sons as Hamon de Massey I, Robert de Massey and William de la Ferte Massey. Others list two legitimate sons, Baron Mathieu de la Ferte Mace and Hugue de Macey, plus Hamon as an illegitimate son."
