He married Herleva, the former mistress of Robert the Magnificent, Duke of Normandy and mother of William the Conqueror, in 1031. They had at least five children: Odo, later Bishop of Bayeux Robert, later Count of Mortain three daughters, Emma, Isabella, Muriel, one married to William, lord of La Ferté-Macé.
