The Iowa marriage record at FamilySearch.org gives her father as George Johnson, mother Mary Johnson. Although her father's obituary gives his name as J. J. Johnson, other sources indicate that he was also known as George. He appeared as John J. Johnson in the 1910 Census.

The Iowa Old Age Tax Assistance Records, 1934-1958 give her birthplace as Beaver Crossing, Nebraska and her parents as Geo Johnson and Mary Johnson.
