Mabel, who married Roger de Montgomerie in 1048, was the daughter and heiress of William de Talvas, Cout of Bellême and Alençon. These lands became part of his lands in Normandy. Mabel was killed by Hugh Seigneur de la Roche Igé, of whom Mabel had deprived of his castle. On the night of 2 Dec 1082, Hugh entered her chamber at the Châtequ de Bures, on the Dive, near troarn, and killed her with his sword. Her mutilated body was buried three days after the convent of Troarn. Her murder and his brothers left Normandy, and were never caught by Mabel's sons who pursued them.

Killed by Hugh Seigneur de la Roche Igé, of whom Mabel had deprived his castle on the night of 2 Dec 1082 in her chamber at Château de Bures, on the Dive near Troam, mutilating her with his sword. Here murder and his brothers left Normandy and were never caught.


Mabel married Roger de Montgomery 1st Earl of Shrewsbury, son of Roger de Montgomerie and Josceline de Ponteaudemer, in 1048 in Perche, France. (Roger de Montgomery 1st Earl of Shrewsbury was born about 1022 in Saint-Germain-de-Montgommery, (Calvados), Normandy, (France), died on 27 Jul 1094 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England and was buried in Abbey of St Peter and St Paul, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.)
