  General Notes:

As the story goes, fled to Pacific Northwest because of a murder charge, along with his brother Hans. From a letter by Donald Johnson, son of Marine Johnson, 8/17/1972: "There is another family legend that I hope to trace in respect to either Uncle Hans or Uncle Chris. The legend is that one of them killed a man when they were immigrants in Kankakee [Illinois], then took off before he could be thrown in the Bastille and lived the rest of his life on the 'lam' so to speak. My father [Marine] and Anthony finally traced these two of their brothers to Eugene, Oregon but Anthony probably knew all the time where they were but wasn't talking."

  Christening Notes:

Christen was baptized at home on 11 Feb 1852 and at Dronninglund Church on 4 Apr 1852. Godparents: Christen Nielsen's wife Ane Johanne Sørensen, girl Ane Cathrinen, farmer Anders Christensen, bachelor Peder Christensen of Asaa and bachelor Christen Larsen of Dorf.
