This is probably the Jacob Sheets who served in the King's Royal Regiment of New York during the Revolutionary War and was granted land in Cornwall Township in the Eastern District of Ontario. Jacob Sheets appears in U.E.L. list published in 1885 (Lunenburgh, p. 391).

  Birth Notes:

May have been born in 1769.

  Noted events in his life were:

• Served: as a Private in the First Battalion of King's Royal Regiment of New York (KRRNY), 1782.

• Served: in the King's Royal Regiment of New York during the Revolutionary War, until Spring 1784.

• Granted: land in Cornwall for his service in the King's Royal Regiment of New York, Abt Jun 1784, Cornwall Twp, Lunenburg District (Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry), Quebec (Ontario), Canada. 4

• Residence: (probably lot 33 in the 5th concession), 1 Nov 1786, Cornwall, Lunenburg District (Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry), Quebec (Ontario), Canada. 5 Shared with his brother George. The 5th concession was on the eastern boundary of Township No. 2, now Cornwall. On McNiff's map of 1 Nov 1786 as "Jacob Scheets."

• Served: Militia of Upper Canada, Capt. Jeremiah French's Company of the Battalion of Cornwall & Osnabruck, 3 Apr 1790, Lunenburg District (Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry), Quebec (Ontario), Canada. 6 Appears in the Militia Rolls of Upper Canada Roll of Captain Jeremiah French's Company April 3, 1790, as transcribed by Richard <Lander>:
