Research Notes: Wife - Jane L. Whisenant
From FindaGrave.com:
Jane L. Whisenant was born near Snowball, Searcy Co., Arkansas on February 1, 1878 to the parents of Samuel P. and Mary Irene GATES Whisenant. She was the fourth child and youngest daughter of the Whisenants. She lived in the Snowball area for a while and later migrated with her Father around 1885-1900 to Ozark Co., Missouri.
On December 11, 1904 Jane married William E. Martin, a widower, and they set up a household in the Lick Creek area, Ozark Co., Missouri with William's child. Sometime between 1905-1909 Jane and William had a child but which died soon thereafter. There was apparently no other issue from this marriage.
Later the couple migrated to Shannon Co., Missouri, (where William had previously lived and near other family members). and began farming in the Birch Tree area.
On September 15, 1951, Jane became a widow. At this time, she was already suffering from throat cancer. She subsequently moved to Howell Co., Missouri to be close to her younger brother, Marion Whisenant, and near the hospital in West Plains. Jane died on May 2, 1952 and her body was transported to Shannon County for burial on May 5th in the Corinth Cemetery where her husband was also buried. Marion Whisenant supplied the Informant Information for the MO Death Certificate, #12767.

Were Mary and Alice the same person?
