Anton Martinus Jensen 1 2

  • Born: 4 May 1867, Hov Skov, Hals Sogn, (Aalborg), Nordjylland, Denmark 3
  • Christened: 10 Nov 1867, Hals Kirke, Hals, (Aalborg), Nordjylland, Denmark

Other names for Anton were Anthony Jensen and Anthony Johnson.

  General Notes:

Great-nephew DeWayne B. Johnson wrote on 8/17/1986:

"Anthony Johnson... was my great-uncle Anthony, a man of unlimited story-telling ability and remarkable skill on the musical saw. I loved him dearly."

From DeWayne Johnson 6 May 2012:
"My very favorite great uncle was 'Uncle Anthony' Jensen.... (I am about 98% certain!) He is the only person I remember hearing play genuine music on a handsaw. He was fun. A story-teller. He also taught us how to wind up the Victrola. He rather resembled Will Rogers in behavior and appearance. I liked him a lot! He also played the Jews harp..."

  Research Notes:

This is vert likely the "Anthony Johnson" who appears as a boarder in J. J. Johnson's household in 1920. If that is the case, he immigrated in 1898 and was naturalized in 1902, the same years as J.J. and his wife Mary.

"son of forest owner Jens Christian Jensen and Ane Cathrine Hansdatter."

  Christening Notes:

Son of forest owner Jens Christina Jensen and Ane Cathrine Hansdatter.
