Shade Lee Cooper
Heavy Equipment Operator

Shade Lee Cooper, heavy equipment operator for SDG&E for 12 years before he retired in 1982, died April 9 at a local hospital. He was 75. Born March 17, 1917 in Picher, Okla., he lived in the county 45 years and was a resident of National City.

He was a member of the senior bowling league at Sweetwater Bowl.

Survivors include his wife Anna Mae, sons Jerry Lee Cooper of Oceanside and John W. Cooper of El Cajon, brothers Edgar Hayes of Florida and Benny Hayes of Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Berge-Roberts Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Lettow officiating. Burial will be at La Vista Memorial Park.
